UPMin – ITO

Departments, colleges, and office units of the university can have their own website to promote their respective programs and services. To ensure consistency and uniformity in domain naming, the following policy shall be observed:

1. Domain Name Registration for Websites using CMS

Departments, colleges, and office units of the university may register a domain name under upmin.edu.ph for websites using content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress, Joomla, or others. The domain name format shall be as follows:

They must submit the system documentation, systems manual, database file, whole system file, and administrative user account.

Updating of contents must be managed by the requesting department.

2. Domain Name Registration for Google Sites

Departments, colleges, and office units of UP Mindanao may also use Google Sites to create their websites. Access to the Google Sites file must be shared with the ITO’s account at ito.upmindanao@up.edu.ph.

3. Faculty Websites

Faculty members of the university may also create their website using Google Sites or any other free website creator such as Wix. However, they are not allowed to register a domain name under upmin.edu.ph or .up.edu.ph. They may use their personal domain name or a free subdomain name provided by the website creator.

4. Approval Process

The use of domain names under upmin.edu.ph or .up.edu.ph shall be approved by the ITO. Departments, colleges, and office units shall submit a request to the ITO for domain name registration. The ITO shall evaluate the request based on the availability of the domain name, its relevance to the department or unit, and its compliance with the domain naming policy.

5. Compliance

Departments, colleges, and office units shall comply with the domain naming policy to ensure consistency and uniformity in the domain names of UP Mindanao websites. The ITO shall monitor compliance with the policy and may take appropriate action in case of violations.
