ABOUT THE IT OFFICE

The goal of the Information Technology Office (ITO), is to provide the UP Mindanao campus with innovative, customer-focused IT support and core IT services. Under the leadership of the Office of the Chancellor, the ITO seeks to foster partnership and collaboration with academic, research, and administrative units in order to create a robust, best-in-class IT environment.

The ITO exists to provide reliable, integrated, and innovative IT services in support of education, research, scholarship, and creative work.

The ITO will be a nationally recognized center of excellence in leveraging information technology to stimulate learning and discovery in a global context.

MISSION

Our mission is to provide and promote cohesive and coordinated IT services and support that facilitates the creation, management, and dissemination of information to advance the campus’ teaching, learning, and research mission as well as to partner with other campus IT professionals to provide effective leadership and IT solutions for the campus’ changing IT environment.

VALUE PROPOSITION

ITO services provide the highest possible value per expenditure of funds, efforts, and resources available to the university stakeholders, which will be continuously confirmed through the quantitative assessment of customer feedback, service data, and benchmark comparisons with similar organizations.

IT OFFICE FUNCTIONS

– Manage and maintain the university’s IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, and network systems.
– Provide technical support to faculty, staff, and students for all IT-related issues, including troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair.
– Develop and implement policies and procedures related to IT security, including data privacy, information security, and disaster recovery.
– Manage and maintain the university’s databases, including student and faculty records.
– Manage and maintain the university’s email and electronic communication systems.
– Collaborate with other university departments to develop and implement technology-related initiatives and projects.
– Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in the IT industry, and recommend and implement new technologies as appropriate.
– Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations related to IT, including data protection, copyright, and accessibility.
